State Public Health Coordinating Center for Autism: The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB), Division of State and Community Health (DSCH), is providing funds to establish a State Public Health Coordinating Center for Autism. The purpose of the Combating Autism Act Initiative (CAAI) State Public Health Coordinating Center is to improve the health of infants, children, and adolescents who have, or are at risk for developing, autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and other developmental disabilities (DD). The Coordinating Center will accomplish this by coordinating with the State Autism Demonstration Grants and by developing a strategy for defining, supporting, and monitoring the role of State Public Health, including Title V and other public health programs, in assuring that children and youth with ASD and other DD receive early and timely identification, diagnosis, and intervention.
