Strengthening Labor Systems in Central America; Establishing Working Rights Center: I. Funding Opportunity Description The U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL), Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB), announces the availability of funds to be awarded by Cooperative Agreement (hereinafter referred to as ``grant'' or ``Cooperative Agreement'') to one or more qualifying organizations to improve labor law compliance in the Central American region (Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua) and the Dominican Republic by strengthening the capacity of local organizations to provide advice to workers about the scope and applicability of relevant labor laws, and when necessary, provide legal services explaining the procedural and documentation requirements to exercise those rights. ILAB is authorized to award and administer this program by the Foreign Operations, Export Financing and Related Programs Appropriations Act, 2006, Pub. L. 109-102, 119 Stat. 2172 (2005). Cooperative Agreements awarded under this initiative will be managed by ILAB's Office of Trade and Labor Affairs. The duration of the projects funded by this solicitation is four years. The start date of program activities will be negotiated upon award of the Cooperative Agreement.
