Studies to Develop Screening Tools for Young Children at Risk for Environmentally Mediated Neurobehavioral Disorders: EPA desires to support research to expand current understanding of the impact of environmental conditions on neurobehavioral development in humans. This project will extend previous work evaluating potential predictors of behavioral disorders usually diagnosed at the time of school entry or later. The aim is to uncover predictive indicators in existing records and then use those indicators to screen children at an early age. The assumption is that early detection of at risk children will allow time for intervention that will lessen or eliminate the negative developmental outcomes.
