SunShot Incubator Program - Soft Cost Reduction: The U.S. Department of Energy?s (DOE) SunShot Initiative aims to reduce the installed costs of solar energy systems by 75% by the end of the decade, achieving grid parity for subsidy-free solar energy. SunShot drives American innovation through advanced research and development, strengthening domestic manufacturing and cutting-edge technology. The Incubator Program is focusing on balance of systems (BOS) soft costs for the first time in response to changes in the marketplace. Utilizing the Incubator model, DOE intends to spur startups to focus on these soft costs and create innovative solutions to long-standing barriers to solar project development. This funding opportunity is the first to encourage new start-up businesses and/or new business units within an existing commercial entity to begin focusing on soft cost solutions.
