Please scroll to the bottom of this page undertheheading Full Announcement and Other Files and click on the link to accesstheFunding Opportunity Announcement.The intent of the Fossil Energy Historically Black Colleges andUniversitiesand Other Minority Institutions (HBCU/OMI) Program is to establish amechanismfor cooperative HBCU/OMI research and development projects; to providefacultyand student support at the institutions; to foster private sectorparticipationand interaction with HBCU/OMIs in fossil energy research and development;toprovide for the exchange of technical information and research hardware; toraise the overall level of competitiveness by HBCU/OMIs with otherinstitutionsin the field of fossil energy research; and to increase the number ofopportunities in the areas of science, engineering and technical managementforHBCU/OMIs. The collaborative involvement of professors and students fromtheHBCU/MI and the commercial sector in the development and executive ofinnovative research ideas, and the establishment of linkages between theHBCU/OMI and private sector fossil energy community helps ensure the U.S. afuture supply of technically competent managers, scientists, engineers andtechnicians. The Program will also serve to maintain and upgrade theeducational, training, and research capabilities of our HBCUs/OMIs in thefields of science, engineering and technical management, and provide thetalentfor an improved conversion and utilization of nation?s fossil fuelresources.Therefore, the DOE-NETL invites HBCUs/OMIs, in collaboration with theprivatesector, to submit applications for innovative research and development ofadvanced concepts related to fossil energy resource conversion andutilization.
