Additional Information on Eligibility
The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MOHSW) is the governmental agency responsible for safeguarding public health in Lesotho. MOHSW has been mandated by the Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho (GOL) with the responsibility for maintaining a system to assure safe blood and blood products throughout the country. The GOL will not extend the legal authority to coordinate the country's blood transfusion services to private organizations, non-governmental agencies or any other entity. This responsibility is carried out by the Lesotho Blood Transfusion Service (LBTS), a unit of the Central Laboratory Division of the MOHSW.
Grant Description
The purpose of this announcement is to provide technical assistance to strengthen the ability of the GOL, through the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MOHSW), to provide safe and adequate blood supply through the expansion of blood transfusion services. The program will provide infrastructure support and expand donor outreach services to increase access to blood collection centers at the central level in Maseru, as well as establish full service transfusion service centers adjacent to the regional hospitals in Leribe and Mohale's Hoek.
