Supporting Tolerance and Peace Advocacy at the Community Level: Embassy Rangoon announces an open competition for Statements of Interest for activities supporting peace and national reconciliation by increasing participation of civil society and women in the peace process and national political dialogue. The program encourages efforts to creatively address long-standing ethnic grievances, continue trust-building efforts in conflict-affected areas, and bridge ethnic, religious, disability, and sexual identity barriers to build inclusive communities throughout Burma. Proposals should creatively address one or more of the following objectives: 1. To increase the participation of civil society and women in the peace process and national political dialogue. 2. To support greater understanding of federalism at the local levels, particularly among communities that may not perceive they are direct stakeholders in the peace process. 3. To promote respect for diversity across regions and states, ethnicities, religions, disabilities, and sexual identities to mitigate future violence and build a peace-conscious society. Projects in all regions or states in Burma are eligible.
