Sustaining Influenza Surveillance Networks and Response to Seasonal and Pandemic Influenza by National Health Authorities outside the United States: The purpose of this program is to provide support and assistance to the foreign governments of Afghanistan, Angola, Argentina, Armenia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Cambodia, Cote D'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Republic of Georgia, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, Russia, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Ukraine to develop and implement sustainable influenza surveillance systems initiated as part of the current cooperative agreements Cl06-607, IP07-702 and Cl06-603 or through Biotechnology Engagement Program (BTEP) funding. The intent of this program is to provide additional support for countries that began and/or enhanced influenza surveillance networks and the systematic collection of virological and epidemiological influenza information with funding from the prior announcements or programs. Countries are expected to develop and implement detailed plans to fully assume responsibilities and funding for robust and timely routine surveillance systems for seasonal, novel and pandemic influenza.
