This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Service (NPS),
intention to fund the following project activities without competition.

OVERVIEW, RECIPIENT AND NPS SUBSTANTIAL INVOLVEMENT
The objective of this Agreement is to cooperate in the preparation of a special NPS edition of the Society’s Forest History Today periodical highlighting the longstanding relationship between NPS and forest conservation. The special issue is in recognition of the NPS Centennial and serves to collect, preserve, and disseminate forest and conservation history as it relates to NPS in a way that can be shared publically.

The Forest History Society is a nonprofit library and archive dedicated to collecting, preserving, and disseminating forest and conservation history for all to use. NPS and the Forest History Society may also collaborate to develop education programs including interpretive and education curricula that conveys the history of NPS and forest conservation to educators, researchers, students, and other members of the public to further the mission of NPS and to cultivate stewardship of the natural and cultural resources related to forest conservation.

(4) Unique Qualifications – The applicant is uniquely qualified to perform the activity based upon a variety of demonstrable factors such as location, property ownership, voluntary support capacity, cost-sharing ability if applicable, technical expertise, or other such unique qualifications;

The Forest History Society is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization and the foremost repository of forest history in the world. The Society is the only international organization solely focused on the preservation of forest and conservation history and dedicated to its outreach. One of the unique aspects of its publication program is its magazine Forest History Today. The magazine reaches a diverse group of land managers, historians, landowners, students, teachers, journalists, and the general public. As the publisher of the magazine and the Society’s undaunted credibility among non-profit organizations it is uniquely qualified to perform the project.
