Television Variety Show to Support English Language Education: The primary goal for this project is to support English language programs as a vehicle to reach youth audiences. The secondary goal is to provide English language programs to better prepare youth to work in a global economy.
The program will also instill elements of civic education with an emphasis on creating a strong sense of national identity, youth solidarity, and individual responsibility.
To meet these goals, PAS will fund a minimum of 12 episodes of a 44 minute variety show with a targeted demographic of youth 15-25 years of age. We are commissioning a series where young contestants would compete in various language/ English word-building activities for a chance at prizes. The show would combine in-studio/live-audience content with on-the-street games and interviews. True to its variety show roots, the show should include the performance of English language songs. Sixty-second cutaways will provide short language lessons on subjects such as building contractions or reading a menu.
