Eligible Applicants Eligible applicants that can apply for this funding opportunity are listed below: Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation is the most appropriate organization and the only national organization capable of implementing a national health promotion and well-being program for people living with a spinal cord injury, mobility impairment and paralysis by providing comprehensive information, resources and referral services because this program:  Is the only national organization that has focused on resource development for post paralysis quality of life,  Is the only national organization that has created and maintains a comprehensive national resource center that provides comprehensive education, assistance and referral services to people with paralysis, their families, caregivers, and medical professionals; the resource center includes a comprehensive library, a call center, and a series of publications and videos created specifically by the center for this population,  Is the only national organization that has an ongoing grant award program to provide small grants to local and state organizations to conduct activities to improve the quality of life for people with paralysis,  Promotes and maintains training for rehabilitation treadmill therapy and a national expansion of its use,
- Grant Description
- The purpose of the program is to provide funding to support a national Paralysis Resource Center to improve the health and quality of life of individuals living with paralysis and their families by raising awareness of and facilitating access to a broad range of services relevant to individuals with paralysis, removing environmental barriers to health for individuals living with paralysis and expand the knowledge base of proven, successful health promotion strategies leading to improved physical and emotional health for this population, improving the understanding of the true burden of paralysis by disease category, injury, and quality of life indicators and to measure secondary complications, and conducting evaluation projects to translate clinical rehabilitation treadmill therapy to community-based settings and training health care professionals to deliver this intervention.
