The Clearinghouse of Newborn Screening Information: The Legislative Authority for the Clearinghouse of Newborn Screening Information funding opportunity is the Public Health Service, PHS Act, 42 U.S.C. 300b10, as amended in the Newborn Screening Saves Lives Act of 2008, NBSSLA. This announcement solicits applications for activities authorized under Section 1112 of the NBSSLA, Information Clearinghouse. The goal of this initiative is to establish and maintain a central clearinghouse of current educational and family support and services information, materials, resources, research, and data on newborn screening for the following purposes, 1. increase awareness, knowledge, and understanding of newborn screening by parents and family members of newborns, health professionals, industry representatives, and the public, 2. increase expectant individuals and families awareness, knowledge, and understanding of newborn disease and screening services, and 3. maintain current data on quality indicators of newborn screening performance.
