The Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response Innovation Pilots: To encourage innovative thinking and ?can do? approaches about environmental challenges throughout the Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response (OSWER) programs, OSWER established the Innovations Workgroup (IWG) and an Innovation Pilot Initiative. The IWG?s primary goals are to pilot and test new ideas that support goal 3 of EPA?s strategic plan, Land Preservation and Restoration. Often, good ideas are developed or enhanced through collaboration and partnership with co-regulators and external stakeholders. To encourage this collaboration, while ensuring a fair and open process to solicit projects from eligible entities, a competition has been established to determine which, if any, proposals, the EPA regions or HQ offices will partner on.
