The Role of Nuclear Receptors in Tissue and Organismal Aging (R01): -The goals of this funding opportunity announcement is to stimulate research into underlying biologic mechanisms involving nuclear receptors, their co-regulators and intracellular signaling systems in the process of aging and the connections of the aging process with pathophysiology in middle- and old-age. -The total amount to be awarded depends on the number of applications received which fall within the funding line of the National Institute on Aging, the National Institute on Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, the National Cancer Institute, and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. -Because the nature and scope of the proposed research will vary from application to application, it is anticipated that the size and duration of each award will also vary.
