The Role of Nuclear Receptors in Tissue and Organismal Aging (R01): Purpose. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits grant applications proposing to conduct research into underlying biologic mechanisms involving nuclear receptors, their co-regulators and intracellular signaling systems in the process of aging and the connections of the aging process with pathophysiology in middle- and old-age. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Research Project Grant (R01) award mechanism and runs in parallel with an FOA of identical scientific scope, PAS-06-466, that solicits applications under the Exploratory/Developmental Grant (R21) award mechanism.
