Additional Information on Eligibility
Eligible Applicants In the absence of FY07 language, FY06 Conference Report (109-337) language commends CDCs work regarding Tourette Syndrome and supports the continuation of the partnership with the Tourette Syndrome Association to develop and implement public health education. Continued funding was provided to educate parents, physicians, educators, and other health care workers about Tourette Syndrome disorder. The 109th Congress intends that these resources be used to support the partnership with TSA. It is estimated that tens of thousands of Americans with TS either do not receive treatment or the clinical care received is inadequate. There is a lack of accurate information on TS among the medical community as well as the general public and early diagnosis is critical to preventing secondary complications. TSA is the only national organization dedicated to identifying the cause and controlling effects of TS consistent with its core mission of education, research, and service. TSA is an experienced and highly professional provider of information and services through its medical and scientific conferences and is uniquely positioned and qualified to partner with CDC in this initiative.
