Trails and Brushing Glacier Bay National Preserve: This announcement is to provide public notice of the National Park Service Alaska Region intent to fund a sole source project under the Public Lands Corps Act of 1993. The purpose is to conserve natural and cultural resources and maintain environmentally important lands and waters using young adults. The Southeast Alaska Guidance Association/Youth Corps(SAGA) is a cooperator under the Public Lands Corps and provides individuals with education and work opportunities that further their appreciation of natural and cultural resources and provide a means to pay for higher education, while benefiting the economy and the environment; youth conservation corps have a good record of restoring and maintaining natural and cultural resources in a cost effective and efficient manner. The members of the SAGA crew will learn to make the connection between what they learn and how they live through improving the lives, land and communities in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve. Under the Public Lands Corps Act participants must provide a 25% match to federal funds.
