Treatment-Emergent Adverse Effects of Psychotropic Medication: This Program Announcement (PA) invites investigator-initiated research grant applications for studies examining the adverse effects of psychopharmacological medications across the lifespan (including pediatric, adult and geriatric populations). Applications responsive to this PA should focus on clinical models of the pathophysiology of psychotropic medication adverse effects; genomic, proteonomic or clinical-epidemiological approaches to the identification of high risk populations; the creation of theory-based psychosocial treatments to modify behavioral risk factors for adverse effects such as weight gain; and the development and testing of novel pharmacological approaches to the prevention or mitigation of treatment-emergent side effects.
