- Grant Description
- The recipient's goal is to establish a tribal leader council comprised of elected tribal leaders regarding water resource management issues. This council will facilitate the collaboration of tribes with other water resource management agencies. The long-term objectives are to establish a Tribal Leaders Water Policy Council; broaden tribal leader participation in water policy and collaborate with federal, state and regional water resource management bodies; strengthen tribal capacity through improved access to information and analysis on water management. The short-term objectives are to finalize a structure for Tribal Leaders Water Policy Council; inaugurate an inter-tribal planning forum; conduct annual forum around water policy issues; identify short and long-term impacts on tribes; coordinate a tribal presence within groups working on federal, state and regional water policies.
