U.S. Consulate General Kolkata: Emerging Markets Summit to Promote Trade Connectivity: The United States, through its Indo-Pacific Economic Corridor strategy, is encouraging South and South East Asian nations to improve regional connectivity, ease trade barriers and open up new market and investment opportunities in the region. The United States is committed to bringing together the countries of the region, private sector firms, and prominent international financial institutions to identify where U.S. engagement could make the most difference. The United States believes that increased economic cooperation will improve the long-term prosperity and stability of all nations and the entire region.
This cooperative agreement aims to hold a two-day conference in Kolkata which will address the strategic goal of supporting viable commercial links between the India and countries of South and Southeast Asia, as a part of the U.S. Department of State’s vision of Indo-Pacific Economic Corridor (IPEC). Accordingly, special attention should be given to select speakers and participants who have influence over policies and strategies that will simultaneously boost the emerging market in this region.
