Urban Archeology Corps MRCA SAMO: The purpose of this agreement is to create an Urban Archeology Corps work experience program through partnership between Santa Monica Mountains NRA and the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority. The Urban Archeology Corps provides youth with an immersive experience in archeology and cultural resource stewardship. The Urban Archeology Corps enables parks to conduct small archeological projects and complete additional projects in divisions throughout parks. The program depends upon partnerships with local organizations and the NPS to ensure that local youth are recruited from urban areas surrounding parks. The UAC engages partners and communities in the shared environmental stewardship of archeological resources. It promotes greater public and private participation in archeology while building resource stewardship ethics in youth.
