WIC Hispanic Breastfeeding Promotion and Education Project: The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) will award a competitive cooperative agreement award of $400,000 in Fiscal Year 2005 funds to a qualified applicant to develop a culturally sensitive, culturally appropriate breastfeeding promotion project targeted to Hispanic women and families who participate in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC). The intent of this project is to develop breastfeeding educational materials and tools that specifically target the barriers to breastfeeding for Hispanic WIC participants. FNS will provide only one award under this solicitation. The awardee will be selected on a competitive basis, based on an objective review of all proposals according to the technical evaluation criteria outlined in this Request For Applications. FNS has structured this award as a cooperative agreement and plans to work closely with the awardee throughout the duration of this project. The duration of the awarded cooperative agreement will be two years from the date of award.
