Additional Information on Eligibility: Entities eligible to apply for and receive an award under this competition include institutions of higher education (i.e., colleges and universities) and public or private nonprofit organizations. STATE AND LOCAL AGENCIES ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR OR RECEIVE A VENA TRAINING CURRICULUM COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT.
Grant Description: USDA's Food and Nutrition Service is soliciting proposals to award a cooperative agreement for the development and delivery of a training curriculum related to the Value Enhanced Nutrition Assessment (VENA) initiative now underway in the WIC program. VENA represents a significant change in the way the WIC Program certification and assessment process will be conducted. As such, it will require extensive training at the state and local agency levels, especially in areas such as rapport building, critical thinking, and health outcome-based assessment, that have not traditionally been part of the skills set expected of state or local WIC agency staffs.
