Watershed on Wheels (WOW) Express: THERE IS NO "FULL ANNOUNCEMENT" ASSOCIATED WITH THIS OPPORTUNITY, AS ALL OF THE INFORMATION IS CONTAINED WITHIN THIS SYNOPSIS. The Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge (Refuge) is soliciting a science-oriented public use facility in the Springfield, Massachusetts metropolitan area, one of the more urbanized portions of the Connecticut River watershed, in order to reach this population demographic with our Refuge-oriented conservation message. The applicant and subsequent award recipient will, in collaboration with the Refuge, design and construct two, 8'x4'x4' aquaria to house native Connecticut River fishes. Further, the recipient will allocate floor space within their facility for the long-term display (approximately 20 years) of the aquaria and customized panels specific to the Refuge. They will also provide a staff member who will accompany the Refuge's interactive, immersion experience mobile exhibit; the Watershed on Wheels (WOW) Express, throughout the watershed for several weeks each year and deliver live animal demonstrations or comparable programming that focus on fish and wildlife resources throughout the Connecticut River watershed. The Refuge will, in consultation with the recipient, develop new interpretive materials designed for the host facility, provide the recipient's facility with Service publications, and provide the logistical support necessary for use of the WOW Express. The award recipient and the Refuge will review and approve each phase of the collaboration prior to its initiation. Please contact [email protected] with questions at 802-962-5240
