Womens Leadership in Small and Medium Enterprises (Wlsme) Program: The U.S. Agency for International Development's Microenterprise & Private Enterprise Promotion office (USAID/MPEP) is pleased to announce the Women's Leadership in Small and Medium Enterprises (WLSME) pilot research program. USAID/MPEP requests applications to this WLSME Program that propose innovative, scalable ideas to: (1) Directly increase the entry and growth of women-owned and/or women-managed small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the developing world; and (2) through participation in rigorous impact evaluation separately funded by USAID, generate learning for the field regarding what works and why. For the purposes of this program, SMEs are defined as enterprises with 5-250 employees, regardless of registration status.

Applicants must be able to: (1) demonstrate an established capacity to provide the technical services and expertise to support the proposed program; (2) have a proven track record in working on women's empowerment and/or entrepreneurship; and (3) partner with a local organization for the proposed program, if they are not one themselves, in the spirit of USAID's Implementation and Procurement Reform. Additionally, Applicants from any U.S. non-governmental or non-U.S. non-governmental organization that meet the above eligibility requirements may apply.
