A Data Resource for Analyzing Blood and Marrow Transplants (Limited Competition U24): -The National Cancer Institute (NCI), the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), and the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) invite an application for a limited competition Request for Application (RFA) for the continued support of Data Resource for Analyzing Blood and Marrow Transplants under the auspices of the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR), which is affiliated with the Medical College of Wisconsin. The CIBMTR collects consecutive transplant outcomes data from transplant centers throughout the world and includes approximately 60 percent of transplants done in the United States. The CIBMTR database has information for more than 232,000 hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) recipients (125,000 allogeneic and 107,000 autologous transplants). -The overall objective of this limited competition RFA is to support the continued availability of the CIBMTR database to investigators and health policy makers. Studies that utilize the CIBMTR registry will: help define the usefulness of transplants in various clinical situations; identify prognostic factors; compare transplant regimens; compare transplant and non-transplant therapies; assess inter-transplant center variability in diagnosis, practice, and outcome; evaluate transplant costs and cost-effectiveness; plan new clinical trials or treatment protocols; and develop approaches to evaluating transplant outcomes. -This limited competition RFA will use the U24 cooperative agreement mechanism to continue the effort of supporting a research quality data resource for analyzing blood and marrow transplants.
