Archaeology and Anthropology Research Associate: This is a position for an archaeologist for the Desert National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) Complex of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), based in Las Vegas Nevada. The incumbent works under the supervision of the Desert NWR Refuge Manager, with technical supervision supplied by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Regional Archaeologist in Portland, Oregon. The incumbent will implement a cultural resource program that includes archaeological research, site inventory, contract administration, Native American and SHPO consultation, public outreach and education, and coordination for the FWSâ¿¿ participation in the proposed NTTR land withdrawal. The cultural resource program will respond to the needs of the National Historic Preservation Act, Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, the Archaeological Resource Protection Act, and other Federal cultural resource legislation. The incumbent will coordinate the cultural resource program with similar efforts occurring on neighboring federal lands. Some overnight travel for fieldwork, research, conferences, and training can be expected.
