Area of Interest 1: Breakthrough Approaches to CarbonDioxide and Separation: NOTE: This descriptive area provides an overview of Area of Interest 1 only. YOU MUST READ THE FUNDING OPPORTUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT DOCUMENT FOR DETAILS ON ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, EVALUATION CRITERIA AND HOW TO PREPARE AN APPLICATION UNDER AN AREA OF INTEREST. Please scroll to the bottom of this page to access the Funding Opportunity Announcement. Area of Interest 1 - Breakthrough Approaches to Carbon Dioxide and Separation Applications sought under this area of interest are for projects investigating novel and innovative methods to capture or separate CO2 from power plant flue gas (including pollutants i.e. SOx, NOx, Hg, etc.) through laboratory based experimentation. Pre-combustion capture technologies are not sought under this area of interest. Concepts proposed should discuss the potential cost and energy savings of the novel technology that would allow for meeting the previously mentioned Carbon Sequestration program goals for performance and cost. Types of concepts include novel absorbents, adsorbents, membranes, and oxycombustion systems.
