Asthma Exacerbations: Biology and Disease Progression: Asthma exacerbations are a major cause of morbidity and mortality in asthma and a significant concern for the clinical management of the disease. The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) invite applications, in clinical and basic research, that will elucidate the biologic mechanisms of asthma exacerbation pathobiology and resolution and their impact on lung function, physiology and disease state.
