BLM OR-WA: Burns-Malheur Wirelettuce Restoration Efforts, Burns District, Oregon: enhance the long-term conservation prospects of Malheur wirelettuce though proactive management, in order to eventually achieve self-sustaining wild populations of the species. This particular FY2011 project will help to meet this goal, by supporting an on-going state and federal initiative that has been using cultivated plants grown from previously collected wild seed as (1) transplants for re-populating sites on BLM land in Harney County, and (2) nursery stock for bulking wirelettuce seed in cultivation to support the on-going recovery program for the species.
