BLM-OR/WA, Lahontan Cutthroat Trout Habitat Restoration, Vale District: The introduction of non-native sport fish, destruction of habitat, dewatering of stream channels and water pollution has led to the decline in historic stream populations of Lahontan Cutthroat trout (LCT), a federally threatened species, and its habitat in southeast Oregon. Hybridization with non-native trout within the McDermitt Creek basin and loss of connected stream habitat within both the Willow-Whitehorse and McDermitt Creek basins are the primary threats to LCT. In addition, many LCT streams, including current and historic habitat, were drastically impacted by the Holloway fire in 2012.

The BLM is interested in partnering with recipient(s) for the long term restoration and recovery efforts of LCT and its habitat.
