Centers for Research to Reduce Disparities in Oral Health (U54): -Purpose: This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) solicits applications for Centers for Research to Reduce Disparities in Oral Health (CRRDOH). The purpose of this initiative is to support interventional research that will have a clinically meaningful impact on caries, oral and pharyngeal cancer, and/or periodontal disease, and that will influence clinical practice, health policy, community and/or individual action and ultimately eliminate disparities in vulnerable subgroups of the U.S. population. These populations include racial and ethnic minorities, low income groups and persons with special needs. The CRRDOH will provide a venue for the 1) establishment of interdisciplinary research teams to conduct studies that emphasize prevention and translation in communities, 2) training and career development of researchers from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, 3) accelerated dissemination and implementation of research findings to benefit health disparity populations, and 4) development and maintenance of core facilities. -Given the complex nature of health disparities research and of multi-component or consortium organization of the Centers, each application must include:1) a Research Program Administrative Center (RPAC), 2) at least two research projects and 3) a Statistics and Data Coordinating Center (S and DCC). These distinct components must be submitted as a single package for each complete CRRDOH application. -It is expected that the Centers will include researchers from a broad range of disciplines. Substantive collaboration between the participating institution(s) and the community(s) is a requirement of this FOA and must be documented in the application.
