Clinical Trials in Organ Transplantation in Children (U01): -The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) invite new and/or competing continuation applications from a team of institutions working together with a designated Principal Investigator to participate in the Clinical Trials in Organ Transplantation in Children (CTOT-C) program. -This initiative will support a consortium of investigators to conduct multi-site clinical trials or observational clinical studies with associated mechanistic studies in pediatric organ transplant recipients, i.e., children up to 20 years old who have undergone heart, lung, small intestine, liver, and/or kidney transplantation. Research supported under this RFA will focus on reducing the immune-mediated morbidity and mortality unique to pediatric transplant recipients. -In FY 2008, the participating institutes intend to commit approximately $3.5 million.
