Combating Wildlife Trafficking in Tanzania: INL leverages its unique foreign assistance authorities to contribute to the global fight against
wildlife trafficking. Funds will be used to provide training and other technical assistance in
Tanzania to build institutional capacity for combating wildlife crime. INL will support work that
builds investigative and enforcement capacity. Applications may also outline activities that
enhance Tanzania’s legislative frameworks and/or prosecutorial and judicial capacity to combat
wildlife poaching and trafficking. For example, activities may include training, mentoring, and
possibly the provision of non-lethal equipment for park rangers, police, prosecutors, other
relevant officials and, where applicable, non-governmental and civil society entities to address
the multi-faceted dimensions of poaching and wildlife trafficking.
