Complementary and Alternative Medicine for Substance and Alcohol Related Disorders (R03): -NIDA and NIAAA invite clinical research grant applications to the PA entitled Complementary and Alternative Medicine for Substance- and Alcohol-Related Disorders . An important goal of this program is to identify, evaluate and develop safe and effective Complementary and Alternative Medicine therapies for the treatment of substance use disorders (SUD) and alcohol use disorders (AUD), including abuse or dependence on licit (alcohol and tobacco) and illicit drugs, and for the treatment of neurological, psychiatric and medical consequences of drug and alcohol addiction. -This funding opportunity will utilize the R03 mechanism, but will be run in parallel with a program announcement of identical scientific scope (PA-05-097) that will utilize the traditional research project grant (R01) or the exploratory/developmental (R21) (PA-06-425) grant mechanism.
