Conservation Training Workshops: The NRCS is seeking to support the efforts of natural resource conservation partners to promote public awareness of natural resource conservation related technology tools, and knowledge. The four main focus areas are described below. Conservation partners are invited to apply for NRCS assistance to: 1) Conduct workshops and training that will help educate conservation districts and landowner and operators on knowledge of the development and responsibilities of Local Work Groups as they relate to Farm Bill Programs. 2) Conduct training sessions with groups of statewide influence to educate landowners on methods to improve irrigation water management. The training will include comprehensive information on irrigation water management plans, variable rate irrigation, using NRCS web access soils data for making water management decisions, and the use of USDAs irrigation energy estimator. 3) Conduct a series of workshops to promote sustainable agriculture systems, particularly conservation tillage systems. Target audience and goal of the workshops is to educate land owners/operators and other land users of the importance of a sustainable agriculture systems. Program should promote the conservation and improvement of soil, water, air, energy, plant and animal life, and other conservation on Tribal and private lands. 4) Develop a comprehensive training program that enables small, limited resource and beginning farmers and ranchers to maintain and develop economic viability in farm operations; to ensure NRCS technical assistance programs and activities reach small, limited resource and beginning farmers and ranchers; and that technical practices and information are relevant to the needs of these farmers and ranchers. Deliver the program locally, and expand the program for statewide use. 5) Conduct workshops and training that will help educate conservation districts and landowner and operators on knowledge of the development and responsibilities of Local Work Groups as they relate to the Conservation Reserve Program.
