Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU), South Florida/Caribbean CESU: This funding opportunity involves adding a university partner on an existing U.S. Geological Survey research project. USGS Researchers from the Western Geographic Science Center in Menlo Park, CA and the Eastern Geographic Science Center in Reston, VA are working with ecologists and land use planners from Everglades National Park, Biscayne National Park, and the Fish and Wildlife Service to develop a prototype for a web-enabled geospatial information tool, the Ecological Portfolio Model (EPM), to assess ecological values in lands outside of the Miami-Dade Urban Development Boundary. The university partner (applicant) will provide needed local ecological expertise This assistance is provided through a CESU cooperative agreement, which is neither a contract nor a grant. As a cooperative agreement, there will be equal involvement on the part of USGS and the recipient to promote the objectives of the program, monitor progress, and agree on milestones and accomplishments for work performed as part of this agreement.
