Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, Desert Southwest CESU: The US Geological survey is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner to convene a SNAPP (Science for Nature and People Partnership) working group to synthesize the current understanding of multi-year drought impacts, exacerbated by anthropogenic climate change, to ecosystems, biota, and ecological services with close association to human health or well-being. The SNAPP working group is in the process of synthesizing ecological drought risks, on-the-ground strategies for increasing the ability of natural and human systems to thrive in the face of climate change-driven drought, and a tangible set of research priorities to support future decisions about drought management. Along with the working group and two post-doctoral researchers based at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS), are pursuing four main strategies for synthesizing information:
