Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, Great Lakes Northern Forests CESU: The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is offering a funding opportunity to a Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU) partner for research on enhancing ecosystem service modelling capabilities, and integrating and applying models and tools both to national and subnational geographic scopes. It is anticipated that current modelling efforts, including ARtificial Intelligence for Ecosystem Services (ARIES) and Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Tradeoffs (InVEST), will be leveraged in improving mapping and modeling capabilities for the USGS Fort Collins Science Center (FCSC). This research will be a component of the larger USGS Sustaining Environmental Capital (SEC) Initiative, which is tasked with supporting the development of scientific information on ecosystem services for federal agencies. In addition to directly working with the FCSC, it is expected that close collaboration with research scientists within the SEC Initiative team will be leveraged over the duration of the study.
