Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, Pacific Northwest CESU: This opportunity is to support research to be performed in the Puget Sound restoration planning and scenario evaluation. This study focused on exploring trajectories of change in the Puget Sound Region of Washington. The cooperator will be provided specific Puget Sound data to run in a Spatially Referenced Regression (SPARROW) model. This complex model empirically estimates the origin and fate of contaminants in streams (or the Puget Sound) and quantifies uncertainties in these estimates based on model coefficient error and unexplained variability in the observed data. The output data needs to be in a very specific format in a manner consistent with the datasets generated for the Puget Sound Nearshore Ecosystem Restoration Project (PSNERP) alternative futures assessment (http://envision.bioe.orst.edu/studyareas/pugetsound). This will allow the their output data to be used in our model. This capability will be implemented using Envision's plug-in model capability and designed to allow SPARROW-derive regression models to be executed within the scenarios developed for PSNERP alternative futures assessments. The plug-in will be written in C++ and will conform with Envision's model extension architecture. As part of this of this agreement the recipient will test correctness of the program execution using the Puget Sound datasets.
