Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, Piedmont Atlantic Coast CESU: The Wetland and Aquatic Research Center of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is offering a funding opportunity to one member of the Piedmont-South Atlantic Cooperative Ecosystems Studies Unit (CESU) Program to fund research in tidally influenced forested wetlands on lands administered by the Department of the Interior (DOI). The goal of this project is to promote continued cooperation between the USGS and a Piedmont-South Atlantic CESU Partner in order to support research investigating the role of nutrient loading on tree growth, ecosystem resilience, soil surface elevation change, individual tree physiology, and stand water use in a mangrove forest in Florida, and research on ecosystem resilience and structural shifts in tidal freshwater forested wetlands in coastal South Carolina and Georgia as those ecosystems convert to marsh.
