Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, Rocky Mountain CESU: The USGS Fort Collins Science Center is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research to make progress in connecting climate drivers to biological responses through species distribution modeling. The cooperators will work to improve the USGSs Resource for Advanced Modeling, which serves the Department of Interior (DOI) habitat modeling needs by bringing Colorado State University (CSU), USGS, and NASA resources together in a distributed modeling system that maximizes the complementary strengths of cooperating partners, with the overall goal of providing decision support tools for species distribution modeling and improved management of native and non-native species. To demonstrate the utility of this capacity, the project will focus on both invasive species and threatened and endangered species; two critical land management issues. The proposal is a hybrid; combining improved technical capacity in the initial phase, and integrating relevant data examples with a natural resource applications focus.
