Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, Rocky Mountain CESU: The purpose of the Wyoming-Montana Water Science Center (WY-MT WSC) funding opportunity is to provide the sequencing and analysis of DNA extracted from sediment water samples collected from sites in Bighorn Lake (Montana and Wyoming). This work is being done in support of a USGS funded project on the investigation microbial mercury methylation in the Lake. Specifically, previously amplified PCR amplicons of the 16S rRNA gene will be barcoded and subjected to multiplex sequencing using the Illumina Miseq sequencing platform.
