DoD Psychological Health/Traumatic Brain Injury Cognitive Resilience and Readiness Research Award: The FY16 PH/TBIRP CR3A seeks to support research that will increase our understanding of what and how key scientific and biomedical elements influence and correlate with cognitive skills assessment, enhancement, and training for Service members, and related specialty occupations. This Program Announcement/Funding Opportunity is focused on delivering solutions for Service member performance sustainment and health protection and should demonstrate broader potential public use benefit of the research. Novel approaches which contribute to cognitive resilience and readiness are encouraged. Solutions that can be translated from laboratory environments and integrated into existing military training and practice with minimal disruption (noninvasive) to existing routine operations are encouraged. Both applied (preclinical) research and clinical trials within specific topic areas addressing the prevention of military-relevant psychological health issues and enhancement of operational performance are allowed. Research focused outside of the FY16 CR3A Topic Areas, including studies addressing post-injury diagnosis and treatment, should not be included in the response to this Program Announcement/Funding Opportunity. Studies involving animal research do not meet the intent of this award mechanism.
