EB Forsythe NWR; Piping Plover Population and Reproduction Trends: The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Region 5, intends to make a single source award for a cooperative agreement to Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey. This award is for an amount up to $60,000 for one year. The Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey (NJ) works closely with the New Jersey Endangered and Nongame Species Program (ENSP) of the NJ Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) to monitor and assess state-wide beach-nesting bird populations. Specific tasks will include: nest searching, incubation monitoring, chick searches and monitoring, walking surveys, predator control, data collection, and program data entry. In addition to these responsibilities, CWFâ¿¿s technicians may assist other researchers in capture, marking, and monitoring of piping plover and other beach-nesting birds. They will also serve as experienced in-field resources for the Refugeâ¿¿s seasonal interns that may occasionally work alongside them. Other tasks will include: assuring data collected in the field is correct; assuring data is entered into electronic databases and proof-checked to ensure accuracy; writing progress reports; and checking, compiling, and sending all nesting data to the State at the end of the nesting season.
