FA New Mexico Long Term Bird Monitoring: The project will monitor the long-term population trends of various songbird species in the Farmington Field Office Area in Farmington, New Mexico and incorporate these findings in habitat management activities. A total of 44.5 miles over 10 survey routes will be conducted during the spring approximately May 15-June 15; eight of the routes will be traversed by motorized vehicle and two will be on foot. Stops will be made at the beginning and end points and every 0.5 miles for the vehicle routes and every 250 meters for the walking routes. All bird species and the numbers of birds within each species that are detected either aurally or visually will be recorded. Upon completion of all transects a summary report will be reported and submitted to the Farmington District Office (by September 1) along with all field data sheets, individuals within each species will be recorded at each stop.
