FY 2012 Tribal Pesticide Special Projects: The EPA Region 5, Pesticides Section, is soliciting pesticide special project proposals from eligible applicants for fiscal year (FY) 2012 funding authorized under Section 20 of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), 7 U.S.C.§136r. The awards will provide financial assistance to carry out demonstration, training, monitoring, outreach and/or education projects that assess or reduce risks to human health and the environment from pesticide exposure in Indian Country. Demonstration projects must involve new or experimental technologies, methods, or approaches, where the results of the project will be disseminated so that others can benefit from the knowledge gained in the demonstration project. This announcement is being issued under CFDA Number 66.716 using State and Tribal Grant (STAG) appropriations that support activities to protect public health and the environment from pesticides. Eligibility for STAG-funded opportunities under CFDA Number 66.716 is limited to States, Tribes, Alaska native villages, and intertribal consortia. For certain competitive funding opportunities under this CFDA, the Agency may limit eligibility to compete to a subset of eligible applicants consistent with the EPA's Assistance Agreement Competition Policy (EPA Order 5700.5A1). Also, for certain competitive opportunities offices may limit eligibility to tribes in a region. EPA is limiting eligibility in this competition to Federally-recognized Tribes, Tribal Organizations and Intertribal Consortia whose membership is made up exclusively of Federally-recognized Tribes to support pesticide projects in Indian Country.
