FY14 Pre-Disaster Mitigation: a. Program Objectives • Minimize risk to the population and structures from future hazard events • Reduce reliance on Federal funding from future disasters Allowable activities in support of PDM program objectives include: • Hazard Mitigation Planning consistent with 44 CFR Part 201 • Hazard Mitigation Projects: o Property Acquisition and Structure Demolition or Relocation o Structure Elevation o Dry Flood-Proofing o Minor Localized Flood Reduction Projects o Structural Retrofitting of Existing Buildings o Non-structural Retrofitting of Existing Buildings o Safe Room Construction o Infrastructure Retrofit o Soil Stabilization o Wildfire Mitigation Generators and/or related equipment purchases (e.g., generator hook-ups) are eligible when the generator directly relates to the hazards being mitigated and is part of a larger project (e.g., elevation of a lift station). For the FY 2014 PDM program, a permanently installed generator that is a stand-alone project may be considered if the generator protects a critical facility and can be determined cost-effective via standard HMA benefit-cost methodology.
