Gene-Environment Effects and Epigenesis in Depression: The goal of this Request for Applications (RFA) is to solicit applications to identify epigenetic mechanisms and characterize gene-environment interactions that produce vulnerability to depression. Novel approaches to gene discovery, the identification of epigenetic mechanisms, elucidation of environmental risk factors, characterization of the genetic aspects of response to environmental change, and the use of biomarkers and other intermediate phenotypes correlated with the clinical disorder are encouraged. Data and biomaterials collected in projects supported under this RFA will be included in the NIMH Human Genetics Initiative and broadly distributed to the scientific community.
