Genomic Parsing of Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia: Studies of Large Cohorts in the U.S. and Across the Globe (R01): -Purpose. This initiative seeks applications that propose to enrich pre-existing resources for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder in the NIMH Human Genetics Initiative and to apply genomic and related research tools to further our understanding of the molecular etiology of these disorders. -Mechanism of Support. This FOA will use the NIH Research Project Grant (R01) award mechanism and runs in parallel with a FOA of identical scientific scope, RFA-MH-08-131, that solicits applications under the Collaborative Research Project Grant (Collaborative R01) funding mechanism. -Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. The NIMH plans to commit approximately $5,000,000 to fund approximately 7-8 awards across both the R01 and Collaborative R01 FOAs.
